Everyone’s idea of the perfect office will be different, but there are a few things we can all agree on that help make up the ideal workplace. In this blog post we will cover four steps you can easily take to create the perfect office space.

Storage

An organised office will have plenty of storage space, whether its desk drawers, filing cabinets like these from Furniture At Work https://www.furniture-work.co.uk/filing-cabinets or office cupboards. If you have clients coming into the office, then it’s important to keep things neat and tidy. Although not everyone is a neat freak, with the help of extra storage space, it’s easy to clear away the clutter to make the office look more presentable.

Comfort

Employers who prioritise comfort in the workplace are likely to have more productive staff, as employees who feel comfortable at their desk will be happier and healthier. Thereare several health issues that can be caused just from sitting at your desk, including back and neck pain from sitting in the wrong type of chair, to repetitive strain injury which can be caused from poor posture. It’s important that a supportive chair is provided in the office, with a padded back and seat section and one that can be easily adjusted in terms of height and tilt.

Space

Having enough space on your desk is important as working in cramped conditions could affect your health, and therefore lead to your workload being affected. You should have enough room on your desk to fit all your computer equipment. Your screens should be directly in front of you and should be eye level. Your keyboard needs to be placed in front of you with a gap of about 4-6 inches so you have room to rest your wrist, and your mouse should be as close as possible, ideally with a mouse mat with wrist pad to avoid awkward bending.

Plants

For a calm and relaxing workspace, introduce plants into the office as they are believed to help reduce feelings of stress, anxiety and fatigue. Whether you have a potted succulent at your desk or a large, leafy plant in the corner of the office, incorporate some greenery and bring the outside indoors and create a more pleasant office to work in.
